Add Years To The Life Of Your Cooling System
Most people know that tuning up a car improves its gas mileage. Did you know the same holds true for your heating and cooling system? How long has it been since you had your air conditioner professionally cleaned and tuned up?
If it's been more than a year, you could be throwing money out the window. Cooling systems lose efficiency when they are dim or out of tune, and that loss hits you right in the utility bill.
A simple clean and check every year by a skilled service technician can save up to $30 a month on your utility bill, according to studies done by utility companies. At the same time, the operating safety of your system can be assured and potential mid-Summer breakdowns prevented.
Air conditioning systems can lose up to 30 percent of their efficiency without maintenance. In fact, just 11100th of an inch of dirt on your indoor coils alone can increase your cooling bills by 5 percent. Contractors estimate that 70 percent to 95 percent of all repairs could be avoided with regular maintenance. With average repair bills in some areas as high as $300, maintenance is cheat in comparison.
Heating and air conditioning equipment will last 20 percent to 30 percent longer with yearly maintenance. How often do you want to replace your heating and cooling system?
If the clean and check is done properly, it will add years to the life of your system. This saves you money and protects your family from unexpected surprises.

No Cooling Checklist
Nothing Works
Make sure the thermostat is turned on to the cooling position. Check the switch on or near the furnace. Make sure the blower door is on right. If you recently changed the furnace filter, make sure it is in right and not bumping the blower door.
Outside Unit Not Working
Reset the circuit breaker. Sometimes in hot weather the electrical supply can vary, which can interrupt power to the condenser. You can have a tripped breaker or blown fuse even if the blower motor in the furnace is running. They are usually on separate lines.
Unit Is Blowing Warm Air
Check to see if the outside unit is running. If it isn't, follow step 2 above. If the outside unit is running, call for service.
Insufficient Cooling
Make sure the furnace blower motor is running. If not, follow step 1 above. Check the furnace filter or electronic air cleaner. If it is dirty, clean or replace it. You should replace these throw away filters or clean your EAC once a month. The outside unit may need cleaning.
